St Patrick’s Day

Yesterday was St Patrick’s Day.  We are at St Patrick’s school so yesterday was our feast day.  We celebrated by going to Mass and then we played some a special activities. 

After church we came back to school and we had our morning tea.  Then we went into our groups and we played outside activities. 

All of our teachers had different activities for us to play.  With Sister Evalesi we threw bean bags over cones and then we threw bean bags into a hoola hoop.  Our partners held the hoola hoops up high so getting the bean bags into them was a bit of a challenge.

Miss Craig had the potato race and two different relay races.  It was difficult keeping the potato in the spoon as we ran around the cones.  After that we did the relay races.  They got harder and harder so we had to concentrate really hard.

Mrs Twomey had throwing tennis balls into a bucket and throwing frizbees into a bucket.  This was also difficult so we had to aim and focus on throwing the tennis ball, and frizbee, into the bucket. 

With Miss Chao we played Rob the Nest Game.  It was important to be a team player and run fast. At the end the team that had the most balls (pretend eggs) was the winner.

Mrs Dines had the Train Game.  We had to hold the hoola hoop and go from side to side while running around the bag.  Then we picked up bag, get into it and jump.  We had a fun morning playing sports activities. 

After lunch we did Art and Craft activities.  These were fun too.  St Patrick’s Day was a great day at our school!

My name is Lolenese and I am in Room 1.  Sometimes my class and I do work all the time.  Then my teacher takes us outside for a run. I like to write and draw, and I like to play with my friends at morning tea and lunch time. It is fun to play and learn because it is easy to do some stuff and then I learn some new stuff.

For Lent I am going to help my family to do the cooking.  It will be fun.  Also I will pick up rubbish and I will tidy my room.  I will help my friends to pick up rubbish at school.

For Lent I am going to help my friend to get up when she falls down.  I will say to her, "Are you okay?"  She will say to me,  "I am okay."  I will tell her that she is my friend.  She will say that I am her friend.  

Then I will say, "Okay lets play a game.  Let's play tag."  It will be fun to play tag together.  Then we will play another game.  I will say, "Let's play cooking."  I will cook a burger. Giselle will cook soup.  Later I will say, "Let's eat it when it's dinner time."  Giselle will say, "Yes".

For Lent I am going to be nice to people.  When someone has no friends I am going to play with them so that they won't be lonely.

For Lent I am going to help my mum in the kitchen.  I am going to wash the dishes.  I am also going to help my brother with his project.  His name is Paulo and he is 13 years old.

For Lent I am going to look after other children.  When someone is lonely I am going to find them a friend to play with.  If they want to play with me and my friends I will let them.  We will have fun playing together.

For Lent I am going to help my mum to do the dishes.  I will do lots of plates and cups.  It will be fun doing things with my Mum. It is good to help your Mum and Dad.  I love my Mum and Dad.  I am also going to help my big sister to do the bed.  I usually do the blankets and my sister does the pillows.  Then when we have finished we have a snack.  The snack is usually yum.  I love my sister.

For Lent I am going to help my sisters if they get hurt.  I will help them to get up off the ground if they fall down.  I will take them to mum and dad.

For Lent I am going to help my friends when they fall down at the park.  Also at play time I am going to help cook dinner for my family.  It will taste good.

For Lent I am going to help the Room 2 children when they are lonely.  When they are lonely I will go and say, "Are you OK?  Do you want to play on the park with me?  Deijahn will say, "Yes, let's go play!"  I will say, "Are you OK now?"  Deijahn will say, "Yes thank you Caylin."

For Lent I am going to help my friends when they fall down on the footpath and they have a bleeding knee.  I will take them to the duty teacher.  I will put some soft paper on their knee so that it will feel better.  And it will.  Also, at morning tea my friends and I are going to pick up rubbish and then we will have a break.  After that we will pick up some more rubbish.

For Lent I am going to help my friend Tyrah and the Room 2 children when they fall down on the stairs.  I am going to help them to get up and ask them if they are OK.  If they are not OK I will take them to the duty teacher.  The duty teacher will look after them and make them feel better.

For Lent I am going to say sorry to Jesus.  I am sorry that I said some hurtful words.  I will try hard to use kind words from now on.

For Lent I am going to help my brother to clean his car.  My brother will say thank you Peter.  I like helping my brother.  I am also going to listen to my Mum and Dad, and I am going to do what they tell me to do.  I love my Mum and Dad, and my Mum and Dad love me.  Thank you God for my family.

In Room 1 we are learning about Lent.  Lent is a very important time for us.  It is a Holy time.  We are getting ready for Easter.  It is a time when we try extra hard to show love and kindness to others, the way Jesus taught us.  

So we are talking about and writing about the ways in which we can show kindness and love toward others.  Then we are trying hard to follow our good words with good actions, the way Jesus taught us.
